An immersion program allows you to develop a schedule of activities specifically tailored to the exam requirements.
Thus, preparing for the exams in France right before taking them allows for much better focus on the goal in a highly conducive environment.
For example, the TCF Canada consists of 4 mandatory sections assessing general French language skills:
- Listening Comprehension: Group test: 39 multiple-choice questions (4 answer choices, one correct answer). Duration: 35 minutes.
- Reading Comprehension: Group test: 39 multiple-choice questions (4 answer choices, one correct answer). Duration: 60 minutes.
- Written Expression: Group test: 3 exercises. Duration: 60 minutes.
- Speaking: Individual face-to-face test with an examiner: 3 exercises. Duration: 12 minutes (including 2 minutes of preparation).
Here are the resultsof a TEF-CANADA exam taken immediately AFTER and BEFORE a 3-week language immersion program at our school:
You can easily see the difference in performance in each category, the result of specific preparation for each type of test.

To maximize your chances of scoring as high as possible on the TEF-CANADA exam, nothing beats an immersion program in France, with a personalized curriculum tailored to your needs, your weaknesses, and your performance level on each test.
The higher your scores, the greater your chances of having your application accepted.
There are, of course, other factors that contribute to success, such as professional experience or the level of your academic credentials, but mastery of the language is absolutely essential.
Preparing professionally for the four sections significantly increases your chances of success and leads to much better social and professional integration.
All the more reason to take the time to learn the language properly before starting the application process and to continue throughout the process.
There are test centers all over the world that regularly hold sessions for both the TEF and the TCF.
